The Benefits Of Exercise

<p>Is jogging a good way to lose weight? Around four months ago I asked myself this very question; I was about to start on a keep fit program and was thinking about the best ways to lose weight and to exercise. Jogging was not in reality something that I wanted to waste my time doing if there was going to be no benefit at the end from it.

I am a person who likes a challenge; in the past I have managed to “stop stuttering” and achieve fluency after having this form of speech impediment for eighteen years. Losing weight is quite similar to attempting to achieve fluency – hard work and slow progress but with huge rewards if success is attained. I work in a Belfast gym and I also offer a DVD replication service which means that any exercise needs to be completed in the evenings.

In the end I decided to give jogging a go in any case; even though I was not entirely sure it would be beneficial to me. But what harm could it do? In reality it surely must do me some good.

My first jog was less than impressive. I had planned a fairly small route – well it was the first time. It was not good; I kept having to stop due to being knackered and for whatever reason I was wary of what other people were thinking of me, CRAZY! When I returned home I was rather shocked at just how unfit I actually was.

I continued to jog each and every day. I must say that it is actually rather therapeutic and it is a really good way to clear your mind. It must be said that it can, at times, be quite tedius and also hard work. I have been quite amazed at just how much my stamina has built up over the last few months and I am now able to run two miles without stopping, at a fairly quick speed as well.

I am pleased to report that I have managed to lose a lot of weight in a fairly short space of time. I am not going to rest on my laurels however as I really want this to be a change of lifestyle forever rather than just a fad.
